Welcome to Encouragers Church

It is a misconception that the “Christians” first called themselves “Christians” at Antioch. The scriptures are exact in saying that “they” were first called “Christians” at Antioch. According to historical writers, the name that the believers preferred was  simply, “The Way.”

“The Way?” The way to where? The Way to what? There must have been some special meaning in the name that they identified with. What others call us is significant because sometimes others are better at defining us than we are. Maybe we are too modest, too egotistical, or perhaps incapable of seeing ourselves as we really are.

On the other hand, what we call ourselves, though likely not at all impressive to God, can have a powerful impact on our psyche. The scriptures say, “as a person thinks in their heart, so are they.” That, we can understand.

What we say of ourselves, defines-if not our person-certainly it can define and drive our mission. Enter the Encouragers!

We live among a depressed generation – a discouraged, downcast, and downtrodden generation. As we live, work, and  play in this present world, we the “Christians,” “The Way” (or whomever the world or even we ourselves think we are)…. We are called to be Encouragers!

Let this word get into your mind and then read the Bible again. You will be amazed at what you discover about Encouragement. This is “The Way” that the “Christians” of the Encouragers Church want to be known.
